Nomme

Diego

PANAMA 2012

It begins

Diego and Nomme Mignot are cousins, not brothers, but whose names you’ll come hear synonymously, as if they were twins living parallel lives. Salt water runs deep in their veins as both were raised at sea and both have traveled extensively all around the world on sailboats. Along side their families, they have sailed and/or surfed the waters of the South Pacific, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, Australia, Europe, North America, and nearly every wave between Mazatlán and Puerto Escondido; they have come to know coastal Mexico like the back of their hand. Coming from a diverse international family, Diego was born in Paris and Nomme in Panamá. All of them carry as many passports as citizenships. They are all sailors and genuine Gypsies of the sea; these two kids have been cultivated to be true citizens of the world.

In all the places they’ve come to know, their fast, strong, solid, rail to rail surfing, and progressive airs are capped with flawless style and were polished on the main beach of Sayulita, Nayarit–the closest place to home outside of the water.

Surfing in the presence of  Tigre and Diego Cadena (4 time Mexican National Champion), and Adan Hernández (the best aerial surfer in Mexico), the Mignot cousins have quickly risen to the top ranks of local, national and international contests, and continue to climb up the pecking order wherever they go. They are on their 3rd ASP pro junior season in Europe, and posting better results every year. This year alone they have ranked 5th and 6th in the world at the DAKINE ISA world junior championship in Panama 2012, and have backed it up by winning and qualifying for the French contest’s for Quiksilver King of the Groms in Capbreton, La Torche, and now are qualified for Quiksilver European finals of THE KING OF THE GROMS in Ericera, Portugal. As they continue to carve out their individual identities, Diego’s surfing attack has become like a sharp shooter’s: calculated and lethal; while Nomme is as explosive, as he is relentless and precise. As amateur surfers they now surf for the French National Team, as Junior Pro surfers they surf for themselves.

If you have not met either of them, when you do, you will find the two irrefutable young gentlemen, fluent in three languages(French, English and Spanish), and comfortable in any condition, whether on land or at sea. But don’t let their good manners and surf etiquette fool you, the appetite of Mignot’s is insatiable. They have been hungry for a lifetime and when the competition is on, they are relentless. The ocean is their playground, it is where they where born, raised and live.

Nomme and Diego have created a special bond between them, their intimate rivalry always pushing their prowess further. Together they make themselves stronger than any competition, as their maturity at this early stage of their surfing careers has allowed them to take on any event they show up at. Together they are unstoppable.

The Mignots are a clan of oceanic nomads who are fueled by a philosophy of clean living and honoring their free spirits. Pay attention to this name as it is one that you will continue to hear about for decades. Diego and Nomme are not the only Mignot radical surfers of this family; trailing close behind are Lola (Diego’s younger sister) and Marco (Nomme’s younger brother), two more Mignots to continue the growing surfing empire.
